Melamine is a quality BPA-free thermosetting resin used for tableware such as plates, cups, bowls, tumblers and trays and other kitchenware. Similar in appearance to porcelain, it is extremely lightweight and resistant to cracking, with a smooth shiny surface that is solid and durable. Melamine resists temperatures ranging from -20°C to 70°C, making it suitable for use in refrigerators and freezers. It does not absorb odours and is easy to handle as it is not fragile. Melamine should not be heated directly or used to heat food in conventional or microwave ovens.
